Worker's
Health and Safety Center
The Workers Health & Safety Centre was established by
the Ontario Federation of Labour in 1979. At the beginning,
they received most of their funding through a $400,000 annual
grant from the Ontario Lottery Corporation. After a few years
of steady growth, their funding began coming from the Worker's
Compensation Board.
Their purpose is to promote workplace prevention measures
that reduce occupational disease, disability and death. Their
aim is to equip and encourage workers to promote the well-being
of other workers and improve the health and safety environment
within their workplaces.

The WCB Act of BC does not apply to BC Rail, all our health
an safey legislation comes under the BC Railway Act and is
administered by the Ministry of Municpal Affairs.
This is something we would like to see changed.
This site is a very rich occupational health and safety resource.
